Earth Day was Sunday. And it needed to be celebrated properly.
And everyone knows a proper Earth Day celebration involves kite flying.
We tried. We really tried.
The lizard kite is kind of in the air. A little bit. (Look closely.)
But, most of the time, the lizard kite flew at an altitude lower than people-height.
There was running involved. But very little flying.
My next kite will be a butterfly. Or a bird. Or a UFO.
Lizards are ground-dwelling creatures. But perhaps a lizard will fly when it has a UFO buddy. Perhaps.
After walking the lizard kite, we walked Laika. (Well, John walked Laika. I just walked myself.)
Laika was invited to our Earth Day picnic. She has lovely table manners.
We attempted to create a balanced Earth Day meal — a Bandit Burrito with a spinach tortilla (green! like parts of the Earth!) and a brownie (brown! like the soil). It tasted delightfully earthy.
