EMOF: Day 8

Exciting Moments of February, Day 8

I made cream of mushroom soup. It involved an entire Costco container of mushrooms. I also successfully used an immersion blender for the first time. It was a big moment.

The soup looked a little sketchy (imagine a bunch of mushrooms attacked by an immersion blender — not pretty). Perhaps a truckload of parsley could have disguised its ugly duckling appearance.

But, you know the old phrase — don’t judge a soup by its appearance. I don’t. I’m not judgey with my soup. (Meredith tried to used judgey as a Scrabble word. I don’t believe it’s valid in Scrabble, but it has become valid in my vocabulary.)

What my soup lacked in outward beauty, it made up for with inner beauty.

Basically, I think my soup could be the inspiration for a children’s book.

Also, I may try to immersion blend my oatmeal tomorrow. Just because I can.

  1. Meredith says:

Judgey or judgy—neither is good. And yet, I love them. They are words to me!

I’m sure children would love to read about your soup. If “Stone Soup” can become a hit, I don’t see why “Mushroom Soup” shouldn’t be far behind.

It could be right up there with Spookly the Square Pumpkin–Murphy the Ugly Mushroom Soup!
